LWC Women's Soccer opens season against #2 William Carey

The No. 16-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team (0-0-0) opens their 2021 season by welcoming No. 2-ranked William Carey (MS) to Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY, on Friday night, August 27, 2021. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pmCT.

The Blue Raiders finished the 2020 season with a 10-4 overall record, going 8-2 in the MSC and advancing to the opening round final of the NAIA National Championship.

Drew Burwash returns for his 19th season as head coach of the Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team who was voted to finish third in the MSC preseason coaches' poll announced.


The Blue Raiders return 15 student-athletes from the 2020 squad. Yudaya Nakayenz, an All Mid-South midfielder and team-leading goal scorer from last season headlines the returning Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson will have to replace last year's starting goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto with incoming freshman Andrea Sipetic and Maya Caon.

Two games into the season, the Crusaders are unbeaten after losing in the national championship game a year ago. Ana Paula Santos leads the way with three goals and two assists. The defense for the Crusaders is vulnerable, having allowed three goals across 180 minutes of action this year with goalkeeper Jaina Eckert only stopping 60 percent of her shots on goal.

Lindsey Wilson is 6-9-1 all-time against William Carey, with their last meeting ending in a 4-0 loss in 2019. The Blue Raiders are 1-3-1 all-time at Walter S. Reuling Stadium against the Crusaders.
