Rachel Cheatham Neagle, former Deputy Jailer

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Rachel Neagle who died Sunday.

The widow of Adair County Jailer Hailey Neagle, Rachel was Deputy Jailer for 14 years, and ran a Family Home Care service. She was a member of the Columbia Christian Church.


She was the daughter of George B. and Julia Kathlene Price Cheatham and was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kay Janes and by three brothers and sisters, Robert, Joe and Davis Cheatham, Nancy Johnson, Frances Callison and Allene Cox.

Survivors inc.lude:
  • One son, Reed Neagle, and his wife Shirley of Campbellsville

  • One daughter, Jane Breeding, and her husband Steve of Columbia

  • Three brothers: Leonard Cheatham, Willard Cheatham and Maurice Cheatham, all of Columbia

  • Two sisters: Nell Vaughn of Campbellsville and Julia Ann Breeding of Greensburg

  • Eight grandchildren: Stacey Coffey, Kelly Eaton, Jennifer Boils, Julie, Joey and Jamie Breeding, Jeff and Doug Neagle, and two step-grandchildren, Jeff and Eddie Walker

  • Nine great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
Bro. Raymond Martin and Bro. Terry White will officiate at the Tuesday afternoon service with burial in the Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Monday.
