Commentary: Build a Wall By an Adair County resident (name on file) That phrase was associated with building a border wall two elections ago, and many supported that plan. But have you considered how important it is to build a wall against the Covid Virus? The only way we will defeat the virus is to build a solid wall of vaccinated persons. The vaccination rate for Adair County has hovered between 29% of eligible persons, up slightly to just under 31% in the most recent Lake Cumberland Health District Report. That is an improvement, but is a long way from a solid wall. To defeat the Covid virus and its variations, we need a solid wall, an impenetrable wall, but with vaccination rates as low as they have been, the virus will only get through the wall and become stronger. And that is what has been happening with the new Delta variant. Case numbers are going up and hospital beds are filling up, with a growing number of children testing positive. I urge all residents of Adair County to get vaccinated. That is the only way we will defeat the virus. Gaps in the wall will only let the virus get stronger. For whatever reasons you have for not getting vaccinated, please reconsider, and do your part for your town, county, and country in the war against the Covid virus by helping to build a solid wall against the Covid and its variations. Building a wall of vaccinated persons is essential to defeating the virus. This story was posted on 2021-08-13 15:02:17
