Col. Wm. Casey's ENCORE prepares for America Sings! trip ENCORE, the third Grade Show Choir from Col. Wm. Casey Elementary School is in the final preparation stages for a unique trip. They will be the youngest, and the only singers from the state of Kentucky, to sing at an upcoming event called America Sings! in the nations capital. There are still fund-raising activities going on to help pay the way for their upcoming trip. The CWC Music Teacher, Miss Cyndi Crowder, and Principal Ms. Patty Jones introduced the choir in one such special fund-raising event Thursday night where the children presented songs they will sing in Washington, D.C. to a standing-room-only crowd. Their patriotic presentation is sure to capture the hearts of the world. America Sings is a non-profit music festival and special event-producing organization founded by renowned choreographer, writer and arranger John Jacobson, who serves as its volunteer president. Miss Crowder says this has been in the works for about three years and they are very excited to be so near their goal. An America Sings slogan is: "To Kids Who Feel They Have No Hope, From Kids With Hope To Share", and this is embraced by participants who also work on their trip and give service to those in need. The Casey Encore group will take food gifts for the homeless and participate in helping efforts for those in need while they are in Washington. (To get everyone pictured, the group was divided into eight photos which follow this story, showing the Encore students in front with his or her support person seated behind them. Names under the pictures read from left, and from front to back.
