Fading sign proposed to be replaced by Scouts Dear Mayor Hoots and Columbia City Council: I am writing to you as a citizen of our community, and as a Boy Scout who wants to make a difference in our town. I saw an opportunity on Greensburg Road to improve first impressions of our wonderful city. I am currently planning the groundwork for my Eagle Scout project and would like to seek your permission to remove the dilapidated sign and erect a new sign. I have enclosed pictures of the old sign, so you can observe for yourself the current condition of the sign. I also included an image of the design that I have created. I would welcome your input on the design or information you would like to see on the sign. My goal is to have the entire project done by the beginning of November. If you approve this project, my next step will be to submit the project to the Eagle Scout project approval board. Because of specifications required by Scouts, I will not officially be able to start my Eagle Scout project until August. Once begun, my goal is to complete the project by the end of November. For my project, I will lead a group of fellow Scouts and volunteers to complete all the manual labor involved in removing and installing the signs. I would also like to request funding from the city. Based on the quotes I have obtained from local vendors, the cost of the project should not exceed $800. Thank you very much for considering my proposal to help beautify and welcome visitors to our great town. Sincerely, Gabe Coleman 106 Lowes Ln.
