Dorothy Helen Jessee Reece, 85

Dorothy Helen Jessee Reece, 85, 622 Tutt ST, Columbia, KY, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at 5:13 a.m., at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Terry White and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Breeding, KY.


Mrs. Reece as a member of the Columbia Christian Church. She served as chairperson of the Decoration Ministry Team and as secretary of the Come Join Us Sunday School Class. She was employed as a receptionist/nurse for Dr. Todd Jeffries for 23 years and for Dr. George Nell for seven years.

She was the daughter of the late Garvin W. and Lula V. Fields Jessee of Adair County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nyle Reece, on June 12, 1995.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son and daughter-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Reece of Columbia, KY
  • One sister: Norma L. Smith, Burkesville, KY
  • One granddaughter: Laura Grey-Reece, Columbia, KY
  • Two nephews and their spouses: Mr. and Mrs. Benny Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Smith, both of Burkesville, KY
  • A niece: Barbara Hummell, Pinson, Alabama
  • And a great-niece: Beth Ann Hummell, Pinson, Alabama
The family requests visitation after 3:30 p.m., on Monday, March 7, 2005, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Columbia Christian Church Building Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
