James A. Compton, 62, Milltown, KY

James A. Compton, 62, Milltown, KY, died Wednesday, February 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Friday, February 18, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Stanton and Bro. Wendell Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, at Grissom Funeral Home.


He was a son of the late Edgar and Fannie Keltner Compton, a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and was retired from International paper in Chicago.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Compton, and a brother, Harold Compton.

He is survived by the following:
  • His wife: Frances Sneed Compton, Milltown, KY
  • A son and daughter-in-law: Chad and Bridget Compton, Columbia, KY
  • A daughter: Dana Compton, Columbia, KY
  • Three brothers and sisters-in-law: Eddie and Betty Compton and Bobby and Peggy Compton, Columbia, KY; and Danny Joe and Ann Compton, Shepherdsville, KY
  • Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Helen and Dawson Keltner, Milltown, KY; and Judy and Jimmy Coomer, Edmonton, KY
  • A sister-in-lw: Treva Compton, Shepherdsville, KY
  • And 31 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
