Sheriff's Department reports three injury accidents

The Adair County Sheriff's Office worked three injury accidents over the weekend including:
  • Whitney Graves transported to Westlake, then to Louisville
  • Jerry Biro overturned trying to miss a deer
  • Malory Feese transported to Louisville


Whitney Graves transported to Westlake, then to Louisville

Friday night six miles west of Columbia on Highway 80, Whitney Graves, age 17, of 3065 Edmonton Rd. lost control of her 2000 Honda Accent, left the roadway, went through a wooden fence and overturned.

Whitney was ejected from the vechicle. Graves along with a passenger 16 year old Nicholas Graves were transported to Westlake Hospital by Adair Co. E.M.S. and Whitney Graves was later flown by Air Evac to Louisville, Ky. The extent of her injuries are unknown.

Jerry Biro overturned trying to miss a deer
A second injury accident occured late Friday night when Jerry Biro, age 32, of Highway 900 Columbia was traveling north on Highway 900, swerved to miss a deer in the roadway, went over an embankment and overturned.

Biro was taken by the Adair E.M.S. to Louisville, Ky. Extent of injuries are unknown.

Malory Feese transported to Louisville
A third weekend accident occured at approximately 11:40 p.m. one mile north of Columbia on Green Hills Rd.

The accident occured when Malory Feese, age 16, of Columbia was traveling South on Green Hills Rd. driving a 2002 Honda Civic, dropped off the shoulder of the road, overcorrected, crossed the center line, striking a north bound 2004 GMC pickup being driven by Oral Hancock age 67 of Columbia.

The Feese vehicle then went through a fence, traveled approximately 100 yards and came to rest in a small stream.

A passenger in the Hancock vehicle was taken by a private vehicle to Westlake Hospital. Malory Feese was transported by Adair E.M.S. to Westlake Hospital and later flown by Air Evac to Louisville, Ky. The extent of injuries are unknown. All of these accidents were investigated by Adair Co. Sheriff's deputy, Kevin Atwoodwith assistance from Columba city Police and the Adair County Rescue Squad.
