Billy Dean Coffey is new Adair Co., KY 5th District Magistrate

  • Governor Fletcher makes Valentine's Day appointment
  • Squire Coffey will replace Junior Brown, who resigned
  • Fiscal Court now has full complement of seven squires
Governor Ernie Fletcher appointed Billy Dean Coffey, 7320 Greenburg RD, (the Clay Ridge Community) as Magistrate for the Fifth District, Adair County, KY, to replace Melvin "Junior" Brown, Columbia, KY, who has resigned.


The appointment came in an executive order, which reads:
Executive Order 2005-158
February 14, 2005

Pursuant to the authoriity vested in me by Sectiion 63.190 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, I, Ernie Fletcher, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, do hereby appoint Billy Dean Coffey, 7320 Greensburg Road, Greensburg, Kentucky 42743, as Magistrate for the Fifth District, Adair County, Kentucky, to replace Melvin, "Junior" Brown, Columbia, who has resigned.

Mr. Coffey shall serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution, which sets forth the manner for filling, by general election, the office he shall h9old by virtue of this appointment.

Please issue a commission to him.

The order carries the seal of Trey Grayson, Secretary of State.

The new Magistrate is 50 years of age and is the owner of Clay Ridge Nursery at 7321 Greensburg Road, KY 61, north of Columbia, KY.

He is a graduate of Adair County High School and attended Lindsey Wilson College.His wife, Jackie, owns and operates a beauty salon, Jachie's Hair Design, in Greensburg, KY
The present Adair County Fiscal Court consists Judge Executive Jerry Vaughan and the following magistrates:
  • District 1: Roger Stephens
  • District 2: Wid Harris
  • District 3: Tony Loy
  • District 4: J.M. Shelley
  • District 5: Billy Dean Coffey
  • District 6: Joe Rogers
  • District 7: Terry Farris
