EDA finalizes vote for second entry from Hwy 55

The Columbia-Adair County Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board voted unanimously in Friday's special called meeting to finalize negotiations for a second road into the Green River Industrial Park.

Completion of the goal opens up 144 acres of the park which had been unusable until now without a second entry because of the gas pipeline crossing it. This vote allows for final surveying and deed work.

EDA Chairman Bobby Morrison said he felt leading this project is among the most important things he will have accomplished in his 77 years for the future of Adair County.

He has volunteered his time over the past two years and asked to be reappointed to this position so that he can complete the mission of opening up the Park to future employers.

The hours of work involved has been in communications between him and board members with city, county and state government agencies, engineers, gas company, water company, and property owners.

In addition to Morrison, those present were: Mark Dykes, Roger Meadows, Ann Martin, Chester Taylor, along with County Judge Executive Gale Cowan and Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots.
