McCammish Manufacturing adds jobs at old OshKosh The Columbia-Adair county Chamber of Commerce recently recognized Doug McCammish as Board Member giving service that organization. He is in his third year as the director of McCammish Manufacturing, Columbia Division, after having spent 32 years in software development at Texas Instruments, Sterling Software and Computer Associates. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a Bachelors in Industrial Engineering in 1967, and of SMU with a Masters in Computer Science in 1975. McCammish Manufacturing is a 55-year-old family company, founded by his father Willis, and owned now by his brother Mark and sister Mary Davis for whom he works. Doug says, Dad is still active but not officially, he just likes to keep busy. The home office is in Winchester but in the eight years since opening the Columbia plant, both Mark and Mary come here on a regular basis. We have a bunch of good people at the plant here in Columbia, Doug says, including Charlie Barker, plant manager, and Donna Simpson, office manager. They could run the place without me a lot more easily than I could run without them. Ive learned a lot from all of them. He says that employees of McCammish come from Adair and surrounding counties. Dougs wife, Marcella (Marcy) is also well known in her new hometown. They sing in the Baptist Church choir, plan hand bells, and Marcy teaches fifth and sixth grade Sunday School. He substitutes for Darrell Overstreet when Darrell lets him. Marcy volunteers several hours a week at Summit Manor and Doug participates in Rotary. Marcys parents and one of their children live in Atlanta so they visit there a few times a year and they visit Dougs parents in Winchester several times a year. Their oldest daughter and her family live in Cottontown, Tennessee just north of Nashville, so they are fortunate to see them fairly often. Their four children have given them six grandchildren. They were able to visit their daughter and her family in Germany in the fall, and are looking forward to a visit with the kids in Denver in the spring when a new granddaughter is expected to arrive.
