LWC Men's Soccer draws with Martin Methodist in double OT By Kyle Jackson Pulaski, TN - The No. 8 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team (5-2-2, 5-1-2 Mid-South Conference) picked up their second draw of the season after tying 1-1 with Martin Methodist (TN) Sunday evening. The Blue Raiders outshot the RedHawks 23-12 on the night with an 11-7 shot on goal mark. The RedHawks made 11 saves tonight with three of those saves coming in both overtime periods to secure the tie. The RedHawks (3-5-1-0, 3-4-1 MSC) put Lindsey Wilson under pressure early in the match with a few scoring chances before Miguel Tizapa finished an effort off a corner kick to open a 1-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson tried to rally for the remainder of the half but could not score and found themselves behind 1-0 at the half. The Blue Raiders started the second half determined to get back on the board and their determination to score paid off when Vitor De Lima tucked inside, playing the low cross towards Cyrus Harmon and saw his attempt get deflected by a RedHawks defender into his own net for the equalizer in the 49th minute, just four minutes into the second half. Both sides tried desperately to find the winning goal for the remainder of the second half but nothing was working and the match was forced into overtime, the fifth time the Blue Raiders have played overtime this season. The Blue Raiders outshot the RedHawks 6-4 in the combined overtime periods but could not score the winning goal and had to settle for the tie, the second draw for Lindsey Wilson this season. The Blue Raiders return to Walter S. Reuling Stadium for their next match on March 23 when they take on Cumberland (Tenn.). Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
