Fiery, one-car accident leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

Charles A. Buckley, 40 Springfield, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene, and Andrew K. Buckley, 40, also of Springfield, died while being flown to UK Medical Center in Lexington, after an accident near Springfield.

The accident is pending further investigation by the Kentucky State Police.


The accident occurred at 2:15 a.m., Sunday, January 16, 2005, 3.9 miles west of Springfield on KY 152.

Two others, Gary L. Settles, 38, Willisburg, KY, and Johnny A. Baker, 29, Mackville, were flown to the University of Louisville Hospital.

The vehicle was travellng east on KY 152 when it left the roadway, struck three trees, and came to a final rest facing northeast. The vehicle was destroyed by fire.

The use of seatbelts is unknown.
