The more things change . . . Our friend and contributor who observes changes in Adair County over the years sends us this bit of nostalgia related to the recent bypass news: NEW CUT-OFF ROAD OPEN TO TRAFFIC The cut-off road which joins Highway 61 to Burkesville and Highway 61 to Greensburg, skirting the edge of Columbia, has been completed and is now open to traffic... [It] will enable heavy trucks and others having no business to transact within the town to pass around same, thereby relieving the traffic situation. (This tidbit from the Sept. 23, 1942 edition of the Adair County News.) More later. "Cyrus" This story was posted on 2005-01-06 08:41:46
