Get your Green Thumb with the Extension Service

Adair County Cooperative Extension Service

With a little help from the Cooperative Extension Service, you too can have a green thumb. The 2021 gardening season is just around the corner and there are several opportunities being offered by the UK Cooperative Extension Service to allow you to gain more information on gardening.

Each Wednesday at 11:30amCT, "Horticulture Webinar Wednesdays" addresses various topics on gardening and landscaping. Each webinar features UK Extension Specialists and Agents as speakers. The upcoming topics for February include:


  • February 10, 2021: Vegetables in Small Spaces
  • February 17, 2021: Pruning Apple Trees
  • February 24, 2021: Pruning Brambles
The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service will also be presenting a virtual gardening program titled "The Unexpected Pleasures of Gardening Series" starting on Monday, February 25, 2021. This program will consist of three sessions with each session held via zoom starting at 5:30pmCT and ending by 7pmCT. Sessions will include:
  • February 25, 2021: Conventional Home Gardening
  • March 4, 2021: Production of Small Fruit in the Home Landscape
  • March 11, 2021: Annual & Perennial Flowers for the Home Landscape
Each session will be taught by UK Extension Horticulture Specialist Dr. Rick Durham. Participants must pre-register at https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2hh80kd3exR2RoN?Q_CHL=qr.
