Two law officers from Columbia recognized

Local lawmen among only 170 statewide honored
for work in Governor's Impaired Driving Enforcement

Columbia Police Officer Josh Brockman and Kentucky Police Trooper Jeremy Johnson, KSP Post 15, Columbia, were recognized for outstanding achievement at the 2004 Governor's Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards ceremony held December 16, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington, KY.

Kentucky Justice Cabinet Deputy Secretary Cleve Gambill joined Ketucky State police Commissioner Mark Miller and Ms. Connie Beasley, Regional Program Manager with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in presenting awards to 185 officers and 170 law enforcement agencies for their extraordinary efforts in reducing impaired driving.

Of the 31,107 impaired driving arrests made by these law enforcements agencies during the past year, these officers were responsible for 6,941 arrests.

"As of December 6, preliminary reports show that 249 people have lost their lives this year on Kentucky roads in crashes involving alcohol," said Kentucky State Police Commissioner Mark Miller. "These unfortunate statistics indicate that impaired driving is still a critical problem," he said.
