The outgoing, the incoming and marijuana

On Inauguration Day 2021, I scanned coverage on various channels for the purpose of gathering perspectives from all sides, not just those I agreed with. It was on the public channel C-SPAN that I heard the most differing viewpoints.

In just a quarter hour, one caller hailed the democrat perspective, one defended the republican perspective, and one firmly believed the conspiracy theories defending the January attack on the United States Capitol.

Then a caller asked for civility - a simple return to civility among all viewpoints - and he said, "on unity, how in the world can the new president bring unity? I'll tell you how, he can federally legalize marijuana and that will bring unity."

That prompted me to look at our discussion on Columbia Magazine about the legislation pending, again, for the legalization of medical marijuana in the state of Kentucky. Some of the letters on this subject from readers follow:
