Major growth happens over five years and now an oil boom

By Miss Vicky Pike, Pampered Angus Ranch

Dec. 17, 2020 - This morning after listening to the town hall from Sen. Wise I checked my social media. On this day in Adair County history five years ago the Cumberland Parkway ramp lighting on Burkesville road came on for the very first time.

New Columbia/Greater Bliss will forever be in the light. Since then our little community has burst at the seams with new development. We have the Pinewood development full.

Just this past week ground was prepared for the First and Farmers Bank. We have two restaurants, two medical facilities, a gas station, a retail business, an oil change and service center, and a few other small businesses here.

Congratulations to all these businesses. Now we have an oil boom going on just south of this with huge wells being hit on the Connie Stotts and Randall and Teria Lasley Graves property. This morning another rig is set to start drilling on an adjoining property.

Many more sites to drill can be seen in the neighboring fields with more to come. And yes there will be one soon here at the Pampered Angus Ranch. The girls will not be left out of this exciting time. Thank you to all who put their money into this area and made something special for our entire Adair County Community.

The lighting was one of the first steps to this progress which will continue for many years to come. And how I have enjoyed sharing those stories with Ed and Linda over the years. Ed did the brush up work on the stories that always added a comical side to them. How I miss him. Merry Christmas from Pampered Angus Ranch family.

More growth in New Columbia underway

2020-12-22 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
It has been amazing to see the growth in five years at the new exit on Hwy 61 South - also referred to as New Columbia and Greater Bliss (after the historic little community by that name just down the Edmonton Road.) Branscum Construction has begun land movement for the new First and Farmers National Bank.
