Christmas in Columbia celebration this Saturday The annual Christmas in Columbia celebration on the square takes place this Saturday, December 4. The day starts with the Rotary Club serving up breakfast beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the Columbia Baptist Church just off the square on Greensburg Street. Throughout the day there will be arts and crafts booths, music and entertainment and much more as the day continues, including the ever popular carriage rides. Santa will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Santa's Dream Shop on the square. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the Adair County 4-H presents children's arts and crafts, and at 3 p.m. the Col William Casey Choir performs. Decorating contests awards will be given out at the Dream Shop for best lights, best lawn scene, best business window display and best exterior decoration. At 4 p.m. there's Christmas musical entertainment at the Dream Depot just off the square at the corner of Reed and Jamestown Streets, and at 5 p.m. the Chritmas Tree will be lighted on the square and then at the end of the day there's the big annual parade with a theme of "Christmas Carols". The biggest item on the agenda is $300 in prize money to be given away in three different drawings. On Sunday, the Columbia Women's Club holds its annual Christmas Home Tour from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. For details, get fliers at at the Chamber of Commerce, 384-6020.
