Virtual Christmas Play set for local premiere

The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic has been rough on many businesses and the theatre is no different. The current restrictions and the concern for the public's safety have curtailed traditional theatre this Christmas season. A new form of theatre, virtual theatre, has emerged during this pandemic, and a group of local actors has decided to present the first local virtual play for this holiday season.

Tyler Flatt is a long-time actor, director, and member of the Star Theater in Russell Springs, as well as the Theatre teacher at Russell County High School. He will be directing the new production.

Flatt says, "We were originally set to do an in-person production at the Star Theater, but the new restrictions made that almost impossible. So we dropped that play and switched to this one. We came together and called ourselves Studio 457 so we could continue to create theatre."

Studio 457 will be presenting Elves: Disaster in the Control Room, written by Mollie Ottenoff and produced in special arrangement with Eldridge Publishing.

The virtual play will hold two performances for the public on December 21st at 7pmCT and December 22, at 7pmCT. Audiences will simply watch the play from any device that can connect to the internet. With tickets only being $5 per household, this virtual production is an affordable treat for the entire family! Tickets may be purchased now at showtix4u.com or find Studio 457 on Facebook for more information.

Elves: Disaster in the Control Room places us in the control room of Santa's Elves on Christmas Eve--our view is exactly what Santa sees on his sleigh monitors. Santa is about to take off, and we are getting an inside look at how that happens from the control room monitors. Papa Elf is retiring next year after 108 years in charge. Spark is in the lead this year, and if all goes well, he will be the next Chief Elf. But a disaster awaits that just might cancel Christmas...
