Mack Burton, 89, Russell County, KY (1930-2020) Mack W. Burton, of Russell Springs, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. He was 89 years of age. Mack was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War and US Postal Service mail carrier for 42 years. Born on December 30, 1930, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Virgil and Jewell Wilson Burton. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Robertson Burton of Russell Springs, whom he wed on January 13, 1955; two sons, Darrell (and Karen) Burton and Joel (and Becky Hughes) Burton, both of Russell Springs; one brother, Phillip Burton of Russell Springs; one sister, Annette Godby, of Kings Mill, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brandy (and Josh) Stone of Bardstown, Megan Burton, and Jaylon Burton, both of Russell Springs; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hines. Due to COVID restrictions, funeral services will be held privately for family only at Bernard Funeral Home with Brother Phillip Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery with military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions in Mack’s memory may be made to: Temple Hill Community Church, PO Box 48, Jamestown, Kentucky 42629. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance.
