City of Columbia Mayor's Report for November, 2020

The Columbia City Council met for its final regular meeting of 2020 Monday, December 7, 2020 with all members present on the Internet via Zoom due to the continuing rise in COVID-19 cases in the region.

It was the last meeting for Council Member June Parson who retired this year. Below is the report of highlights shared by the Mayor from the November staff activities.

1. We have picked up over 100 loads of brush and leaves during the month. During one week only: had 14 loads of leaves, 40 bags of leaves, and eight loads of brush.

2. Donnie Rowe with the street department has retired.

3. City trees on the square and in the city parking lot were trimmed during the month.

4. Flags were taken down after Veterans Day. We had good success with flags being sponsored for veterans. New flags are being orders and will be in honor of/in memory of veterans. We will be publishing a listing of sponsors and veterans. Thanks to all who participated.

5. The city's street department and the city's parks and recreation dug up stumps and helped remove from the Little League Park.



6. We have been working on the Christmas Drive-Through. We hope everyone likes it.

7. The Street Department has repaired two road tiles during the month.

8. Several ditches were pulled during the month.

9. The Street Department has completed several road projects.

10. The Parks and Recreation Department has completed the winterization of all plumbing at all city parks.

11. The Parks and Recreation Department has been blowing and picking-up leaves at all parks.

12. All areas in the landscaping around City Hall were cleaned.

13. We had the final engineering meeting during the month on the Green Hills gas project. The project went well; and, gas is now available for residents to signup.

14. We are collecting Santa Claus letters. Children are writing to City Hall. Each letter will be responded to.

15. The City Police Department did a community event just prior to Thanksgiving. People who were pulled over (primarily on bypass) were given country ham and/or gift certification. Sponsored by: Mayor, Chief, Sergeant.
