Edmonton providing CARES funds to small businesses By Gaye Shaw, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce The City of Edmonton is using CARES money received to fund a grant program designed to assist local businesses (no franchises) that experienced interruption of normal retail sales and service due to COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions. The Mayor and Council voted to use a portion of the CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund the City received to support those small, local businesses that are vital to the local economy of Edmonton. Local businesses inside the incorporated city limits having paid business license fees for calendar years 2019 and 2020 are eligible to apply for the Edmonton CARES Small Business COVID-19 Relief Fund grant program. Applications will be received no later than Friday, December 18. This is a reimbursement grant program. Each grant is capped at $2,000 per business. The business will provide paid receipts for costs/expenses incurred to sustain the business during COVID19 restrictions from March to December 2020. Examples of expenses may include but are not limited to: - Business rent/mortgage - Insurance for business - Utility bills (electric, internet, gas, sewer, telephone, and water) - Business Modifications (i.e. Drive-Up/Through windows/doors, public crowd control barriers/devices, cashier plexiglass windows, online ordering software, etc.) The local business will be required to certify no other state or federal funds have been applied for or received for the specific expenses being submitted to the City for reimbursement (no duplication of benefits). This program is subject to audit by the Commonwealth to verify no duplication of benefits between all federal and state-funded CARES programs. Application forms may be picked-up at City Hall, 207 East Street, Edmonton, KY. The fully executed Application form, Coronavirus Relief Fund Small Business Grant Self-Certification, and paid receipts shall be returned within a sealed envelope addressed to: Attn: Dawn Devore, City Clerk "Edmonton CARES Small Business COVID19 Relief Fund" An independent 3rd party agency of Frankfort will determine program eligibility for Edmonton local officials.
