LWC Wrestling sweeps Rio Grande and Thomas More

Crestview Hills, KY - The No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team had themselves a day at the Connor Convocation Center downing both Rio Grande (OH) and (RV) Thomas More (KY). LWC defeated Rio Grande 57-0 before besting Thomas More 48-0.

The Blue Raiders (4-0, 2-0 MSC) swept both matches, not allowing their opponents to pick up a single point on the afternoon. This season the Blue Raiders have only seen defeat in one single bout.

LWC showcased their talent up and down the lineup, picking up 14 pins, three major decisions and three decisions across their 20 bouts.



Lindsey Wilson 57 - Rio Grande 0
The Blue Raiders had their way with Rio Grande this afternoon picking up nine pin victories and one decision across ten matches. Lindsey Wilson won five via forfeits, coming at 133, 157, 165, 184 and 197-pounds.

Cagen Wallace (No. 6 at 125) kicked things off pinning Lucas Chess in one minute and 37 seconds. Tanner DeMien picked up another pin at 141-pounds when he forced Blake Brown to the mat in just 42 seconds.

Trent Johnson (No. 3 at 149) pinned Phil Severance in 1:07 before Johnny Lee added a 10-8 decision over Kiah Smith at 174-pounds. Brandon Reed (No. 1 at HW) closed out the match when he pinned Layton Mitchell in 2:13.

Lindsey Wilson 48 - Thomas More 0
Lindsey Wilson managed another perfect match - the third of the season -- against Thomas More. They notched five pins, three major decisions and two decision victories

Wallace picked up his second pin victory of the day when he downed Shay Horton in 2:27. Sam Bacon (No. 5 at 133) then won on a 9-1 major decision over Josh Dunn.

The Saints forfeited at 141-pounds to give LWC a 16-0 lead.

Johnson continued to assert his dominance, picking up his second pin of the day, this one over Cordell Vaske in 4:26. Derrick Smallwood (No. 2 at 157) then battled to a 3-2 decision over Wilder Wichman (No. 9 at 157) in the top-10 nationally ranked battle.

Joe Koontz (No. 7 at 165) then managed a 12-0 major decision over Ryan Draughn.

Lee and Trajan Hurd recorded back to back pin. Lee took down Dylan Mosher in 5:40 as Hurd (No. 11 at 184) proved to be too much for Andrew Taylor (No. 16 at 184), pinning at the 6:14 mark of the match.

Trevor Lawson (No. 2 at 184) won on a 7-0 decision over Daulton Mayer before Reed finished the match with a 12-1 major decision over Joseph Wahl.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Dec. 3 when they welcome No. 9 Marion (IN) and No. 10 Cumberland (TN) to Biggers Sports Center at 3pmCT. The matchups are Lindsey Wilson's first against ranked opponents this season.
