LWC Men's Basketball Picked to finish 8th in MSC By Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team was picked to finish eighth in the Mid-South Conference during the 2019-20 campaign, the conference office announced Thursday. The Blue Raiders received 47 total points from the head coaches in the MSC as they were not allowed to vote for their teams in the poll. Last season the Blue Raiders produced a 17-14 overall record including a 6-10 mark in the MSC. Georgetown (KY) is the favorite to win the conference after receiving 118 voting points and nine first-place votes. The Tigers captured both the MSC regular season and tournament titles last season as they finished the season with a 30-2 overall record. Cumberlands (KY) was picked to finish second with 105 points in the poll. Last season, the Patriots went 24-8 and were 12-4 in MSC play. Thomas More (KY) is slotted third after receiving 100 points and two first-place votes. In their first season in the MSC, the Saints went 26-7 and 11-5 in conference play reaching the championship game of the MSC Tournament. Shawnee State (Ohio) is slotted fourth with 94 points and the final first-place vote. The Bears were 21-11 and 9-7 in the MSC a season ago. Campbellsville (KY) and Pikeville (KY) tied for fifth in the poll with 70 points, Life (Ga.) is seventh with 62 points and Cumberland (TN) is ninth with 37. MSC newcomers Bethel (TN), Freed-Hardeman (TN) and Martin Methodist (TN) round out the preseason poll. The Wildcats garnered 33 points while the Lions and RedHawks earned 31 and 21 points respectively. The 2021 Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Championship is slated for Feb. 26-March 1 at Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, KY Lindsey Wilson men's basketball begins their season on Nov. 2 on when they take on Simmons (KY) at Biggers Sports Center.
