Four names, three choices, being mentioned for new Mayor
Four names have been consistently suggested around Columbia as possible successors to Mayor Curtis Hardwick, since his resignation was publicly announced, Monday October 4, 2004 .

The resignation is effective October 17, 2004.

The four names represent, in all likelihood, only three choices:
  1. Either Pat Bell or Sue Stivers. It is unlikely that these two would let their names be advanced without agreement from the other.
  2. Councilman Charles Grimsley
  3. Councilman Jimmy Harper

Gas is over $2.00 a gallon
Premium gas prices have climbed to over $2.00 a gallon in Columbia, with only the regular grade, at $1.959, below the threshhold.

New fall decorations on Square
If the gas is affordable, or you can walk, run, or cycle to downtown, it's worth going to see the new harvest time displays in the planters on thse Columbia Public Square.
