Billy Gene Pruitt, 82, Greensburg, KY (1938-2020)

Billy Gene Pruitt of Greensburg passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020. He was 82 years old.

Private funeral services for Billy G. Pruitt will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, with Bro. Adam Pruitt, Bro. Mickey Pruitt, and Bro. Handley Milby officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery.

A walk through visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Monday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and from 7amCT until 11amCT on Tuesday until time for the funeral service.


Billy Gene Pruitt of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late John Pruitt and Inus Jeffries Pruitt, was born on Friday, June 29, 1938 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. He was 82 years, three months, and five days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church. He was a farmer, retired carpenter, and former worker for the Bale's Tobacco Warehouses. He also loved to fish.

Survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Curry Pruitt of Greensburg having united in marriage on March 29, 1958.

Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Teresa and Fred Marling of Elizabethtown; a son and daughter-in-law: Donald and Shelley Pruitt of Greensburg; three grandchildren: Shay King and her husband, Wess of Elizabethtown, Jon Pruitt, and Josh and Rebecca Pruitt all of Greensburg; five great-grandchildren: Lhana Taul and her husband, Joseph, Hunter Campbell all of Elizabethtown, Tiffany Pruitt, Audrey Ruth Pruitt, and Oliver Pruitt all of Greensburg; a great-great-grandchild: Maleeah Taul of Elizabethtown; a brother and sister-in-law: Mickey and Fran Pruitt of Greensburg; a sister: Hortense Edwards of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Pruitt was also preceded in death by a infant son: Jeffrey Allen Pruitt; a brother: Bobby Pruitt; and two half siblings: Bloyd Pruitt and Dixie Allison.

Pallbearers: Jon Pruitt, Josh Pruitt, Hunter Campbell, Larry Jeffries, Fred Marling, Junior Pierce.

Honorary Pallbearers: Denny Atwell, Danny Curry, Jason Patterson, Ken Pruitt, Mike Darnell, Noah Arnett, Kaye Simpson, Todd Simpson, Johnnie Simpson.
