KSP investigating Monroe death

Billy K. Melton, 43, was arrested September 18, 2004 following a call to Monroe County EMS to come to 580 Ray Geralds Road, Monroe County, where a 14 year old female was found unresponsive.

She was taken to the Monroe County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead by the Monroe County Deputy Coroner.


The cause of death is unknown at this time

An autopsy wil be performed next date.

In the arrest, Billy K. Melton was charged with rape 3rd, terroristic threatening, intimidating a witness, and tampering with phyiscal evidence.

Additional charges are expected pending further investigation.

The case is being investigated by Detective George Atwood and Sgt Bobby Sullivan of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, and by the Monroe County Sheriff Department.
