Oral Hancock, 82, Adair County, KY (1937-2020)

Oral Hancock of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. He was 82 years old.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 12noonCT at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Saturday, and 8amCT Sunday at the church.

All attendees to visitation and/or funeral are required to wear a facial covering.



He was born August 20, 1937, in Wayne County, KY to the late Loren & Glenna Hancock and was also preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Hancock and four sisters, Charlene Taylor, Betty Burton, Jewell Law & Geneva Ray.

Oral was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and businessman in Columbia, starting the family business, Hancock Tire in 1995 and remained a vital part of the business as long as he was able.

Survivors include:

Two sons - Alex (Pam) Hancock & Troy (Donna) Hancock all of Columbia

Two daughters - Tracy Lewis & Tasha Warren (Travis Cole) all of Columbia

Four brothers - Gerald Hancock of Columbus, Indiana, Jay Reed Hancock of Springfield, Virginia, Jeff Hancock of Russell County, Ronnie Hancock of Columbia

Two sisters - Vera Burris of Columbus, Indiana & Carolyn Sue Perry of Flora, Illinois

Five grandchildren - Dustin, Rachel, Jayden, Jaxon & Amber

Five great-grandchildren - Skye, Blaide, Keegan, Tripton & Jaylin

Special caregivers - His former wife, Brenda Hancock & Teresa Dean

A local sister-in-law - Rosella Hancock of Columbia

Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, customers & friends

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Hosparus Green River or Gideon Bibles which can be made at the church
