Lannie Cockerham, 56, Vietnam Veteran

Lannie Cockerham, 56, 312 Gano Avenue, Georgetown, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 9:05 a.m., at the Albert B. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, KY, after a long illness.

The funeral service will be Friday, July 9, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., CDT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Dwight Elam officiating.


He was the son of the late Herbert Dallas and Anna Marie Wetzel Cockerham, Seymour, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Grant Cockerham, Georgetown, KY, and the following:
  • One son and his wife: Michael and Susan Cockerham, Georgetown, KY
  • Two daughters: Tracy Stotts and her husband, Barry, Columbia, KY; and Melissa Wilcox, Georgetown, KY
  • Three brothers: Neil and his wife Jan Cockerham, Pangborn, Arkansas; Randy and his wife Cindy Cockerham, Seymour, IN; and Kirby Cockerham, Houston, IN
  • Three sisters: Sharon Baker, Taylorsville, IN; Brenda Campbell, Seymour, IN; and Marada Cockerham, Tulsa, OK
  • Five grandchildren: Hannah, Grant, and Emma Grace Cockerham; and Aston and Cody Stotts
  • And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers Dale and Jack Cockerham and a sister, Pam Cockerham.

Mr. Cockerham was a member of the Northside Christian Church in Georgetown.

He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran with honors including the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, and Commendation Medal.

He was a former employee of Toyota Motor Company in Georgetown, KY.

He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge in Georgetown, KY, and a member of the American Legion Post #24, Georgetown, KY.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, KY.

The family requests visitation after 2:00 p.m., CDT, on Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in memory of Lannie Cockerham to the Markey Cancer Cetner, 800 Rose Street, Lexington, KY.

Pallbearers: Dennis Loy, David Lybrook, Doug Grant, Tony Grant, Ronnie Goodin, and Steve Watson.

Honorary pallbearers: Danny Downey, Billy Franklin, Harlan Franklin, Harlan Franklin, Lynn Franklin, Bernice and Edwin Goodin, Betty Smith, James Watson, and Judy Watson.
