Jessie Janes, 81

Jessie Janes, 81, 959 Toria Road (Sparksville Community) Columbia, KY, passed away suddenly, Thursday, May 27, 2004, at her home.

The funeral service will be Sunday, May 30, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Lewis Haynes and Bro. Jessie Hagan officiating. Burial follows in the the Antioch Cemetery.


Mrs. Janes was a member of the Harrods Fork Baptist Church and was a secretary at Sparksville Grade Center for 36 years.

She was the daughter of the late Jess and Lee Cheek Cole of Cumberland County, KY, and the widow of Bee Janes, who preceded her in death on December 27, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Hauf, on Febraury 23, 1999.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Pam Scott and her husband, Travis Paul Scott, Columbia, KY; and Angie Wise and her husband, Willard Wise, Campbellsville, KY
  • Three sons: Mac Janes and his wife, Missy Janes, Memphis, TN; Don Janes and his wife, Beverly Janes, Pensacola, FL; and Dale Janes and his wife, Brenda Janes, Shepherdsville, KY
  • One sister: Sue Flatt, Columbia, KY
  • Eight grandchildren: Deana Cail, Greg Janes, Meredith Wong, Chris Janes, Mike Scott, Lorie Janes, Kellie Vaughn, and Jason Janes
  • And five great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sister: George and Jim Cole and Victoria Handorf.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Harrods Fork Baptist Church Building fund, which may be left at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Visitation is after 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the funeral home.
