The Columbia-Adair County Industrial Development Authority andthe Adair County Adult Learning Center are pleased to announce a uniquetraining opportunity for the workforce of Columbia and Adair County. Theprogram is called "Pre-hire Training". The purpose of the program is toassist potential employees in gaining more marketable skills that will aidethem in the workplace.

Four different companies in Columbia and Adair County have pledged theirsupport for this program. Majestic Yachts, McCammish Manufacturing,Northeastern Products Corp., and White Millworks have each made a commitmentto the Pre-hire program. Each of these companies has agreed to grant aninterview to anyone who completes the training, provided that there is anopen position that the trainee is qualified for.

The training curriculum will include the following:

Workplace Essential Skills (WES)
- Communication
- Team Building
- Critical Thinking
- Problem Solving

Basic Math
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Fractions and decimal numbers
- Measurements - using a measuring tape

Basic Reading and Comprehension
Interview Skills and Rsums

Classes will begin April 20 and continue through May 25. Classwill be held every Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Adult LearningCenter. If you are interested in enrolling in the Pre-hire Training Programplease contact the Columbia-Adair County Industrial Development Authority at384-4401. If you are unable to attend class on the above dates or at thedesignated time, other arrangements can be made. There is no enrollment feeand you must register by Friday, April 16.
