Mary G. Simmons Cooley, 97

The funeral service for Mary G. Simmons Cooley, 97, will be Monday, March 8, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., C.S.T., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro. Hugh Withers officiating.

Mrs. Cooley, passed away Monday, March 1, 2004, at Vista Care Hospice in Cincinnati, OH. She was formerly of Adair County, KY>


She was the daughter of the late James "Jake" Sidney and Laura Ellen Aaron Simmons and the widow of James Clyde Cooley. Her husband preceded her in death on February 26, 2000.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Laura Murrell and her husband Homer, Carson City, NV; and Roberta "Bobbie" Callahan and her husband Howard, De Mossville, KY
  • One son: Earl Cooley, St. Bernard, OH
  • Six grandchildren: Pamela (Craig) Johnson, Vickie (Richard) Patrick, Quintin Murrell, Terri Murrell, John (Judy) Callahan, and Eunice (Terry) Minks
  • Seventeen great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchildren
Mrs. Cooley was a member of the Mormon Church. She was a school teacher and taught school in Adair and Green Counties. She was a member of the DAR and a Kentucky Colonel.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Vista Care Hospice Unit in Cincinnati, OH; Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society. The donations may be made at the funeral home.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Visitation is after 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
