More of Jamestown Street likely to go commercial; zoning hearing February 26

More of Jamestown Street will likely be commercial, if hearings set for February 26 go as expected.

A public hearing will be held Thursday, February 26, 2004, at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall to consider a request to change the strip starting with the Assembly of God Church building south to the Joe Moore property from R-2 Residence to C-3 Neighborhood Commercial for the following properties:
  • 310 Jamestown Street
  • 312 Jamestown Street
  • 400 Jamestown Street
The property is on the west side of Jamestown Street, across Jamestown Street from Miller Avenue.

The meeting is open to the public.

Should the change be made, Jamestown Street will be all commercial from the present Assembly of God property south to the Louie B. Nunn Parkway on the west side, except for the residence of Tim Bradshaw and the residences owned by Effie Heskamp, which remain residential.

Except for the Bradshaw and Heskamp properties, the west side of Jamestown Street is zoned Highway Commercial from Robertson Pools south to the parkway.

One the east side of Jamestown Street, all property south from the Allen Taylor residence is Highway Commercial at present.

The change being requested is primarily for a durable medical firm which may move to the Assembly of God building when that congregation builds a new church building.
