Raymond Young, 79

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, after 3:30 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Raymond Young, 79, who died today, Tuesday February 10, 2004, at Westlake Regional Hospital emergency room.

The funeral will be Friday, February 13, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at the Nave Funeral Home, 206 West Main Street, Erin, Tennessee, with Rueben Barnes the officiating clergy.


He was a member of the Columbia Christian Church, a retired electrician for the Tennessee Valley Authority and was involved in oil exploration and drilling in South Central Kentucky.

Mr. Young was the son of the late Millard and Cora Wheat Young of Adair County.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Bryant Young of Erin, Tennessee, and the following:
  • Two sons: David Barnes and Kennith Barnes of Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee
  • Three daughters: Omie Shepherd, Sandy Ellison and Lisa Wright of Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee
  • Eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one nephew
Details of the services to be held in Tennessee will be announced by Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home as the plans are formalized.
