Big Rock at Green River near the Taylor/Green County line

By Larry Smith

I took a Saturday morning boat ride up the Green River. I've always been fascinated with the river and how our county lines were drawn between Green & Taylor Counties in the river and so accurately. "Horseshoe Bend" splits the two counties, and after more than 200 years, people still know the exact location.

Every inch of the Green River has such significant history, such as the "danger zone" area, where several boaters and swimmers have perished, to goods being shipped up and down the river in the old days.

Green River is truly a paradise, and until you've seen the river from a boat ride you'll never know its true beauty.
