Friday April 24 is Kentucky Writers' Day online Mike Watson reminds everyone that The Kentucky Arts Council is inviting all Kentuckians to celebrate Kentucky Writers' Day on Friday, April 24, 2020! In order to practice appropriate social distancing and honor people's desire to self-isolate, Kentucky Writers' Day will be an online event held on the Kentucky Arts Council's Kentucky Writers' Day Facebook event page. A Writers' Day video program, featuring Kentucky Poet Laureate Jeff Worley and past poets laureate Richard Taylor, Sena Jeter Naslund, Maureen Morehead and George Ella Lyon, will be uploaded to the event page at 9amCT/10amET, April 24 and will be available all day. It will also be uploaded to the arts council's YouTube channel. A captioned video will be available in the coming weeks. The arts council is also celebrating Kentucky Writers' Day by inviting Kentuckians to submit videos of themselves reading their own work. You can do that by visiting the Kentucky Writers' Day Facebook event page and posting your video there. "In a time when we are voluntarily distancing ourselves from one another, literature binds us together through our shared language. Please add your voice - with a poem, short story, essay or other piece you have written - to the online Kentucky Writers' Day celebration." -- Jeff Worley, Kentucky Poet Laureate (2019-2020) This story was posted on 2020-04-24 06:49:07
