Leon Murphy, 67, 1762 Weed Sparksville Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at 10:34 a.m., at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, after an illness.

Visitation is after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2004, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.

He was the son of the late Payton and Ruby Brown Murphy of Clinton County, KY.

He is survived by the following:
  • His wife: Diane Groce Murphy, Columbia, KY
  • Three sons: Tommy Murphy and his wife, Carol; Timmy Murphy and his wife, Deena; and David Murphy and his wife, Angie, all of Columbia, KY
  • One daughter: Tina Combs and her husband, David, Edmonton, KY
  • Three brothers: Millard Murphy and Sherman Murphy, both of Albany, KY; and Jimmy Murphy, Columbia, KY
  • One sister: Pinna Hagan, Glasgow, KY
  • His mother-in-law: Pauline Groce, Burkesville, KY
  • Seven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Murphy attended the Sparksville Church of the Nazarene and was a retired farmer.

The funeral service will be thursday, January 29, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Sparksville Church of the Nazarene, with Bro. Lonny Karnes officiating.

Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery.
