Beloved retired teacher, Marion Dee Shively, 81

A beloved retired teacher in the Adair County School system, Marian Dee Shively, 85, Wall Street, Columbia, KY, died Sunday, January 18, 2004, at 11 p.m. at the Woodland Terrace in Elizabethtown.

The funeral service is today, Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Grissom Funeral Home, with Dr. Michael O'Neal officiating.


Mrs. Shively was a native of of Russell County. She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Stella Stephenson Holt. She was a former school teacher in Adair and Russell Counties and a member of the Columbia Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Shively, who died on December 29, 1996.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son and daughter-in-law: Terry and Cleo Shively of Columbia, KY
  • Three grandchildren: Terra Lynn and her husband, J.T. Marsh, Warsaw, KY; Donald and his wife, Heather Shively, Paducah; and Douglas Shively, Louisville
  • Two great grandchildren: Jacalynn and David Marsh
Casket bearers will be Ray Hutchison, Carl Arnold, Ed Hadley, Phillip Hadley, Codell Phipps, and Bobby Beard.

Honorary casket bearers are members of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class of Columbia Baptist Church.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
