Sue Stivers is 2003 APEX Award Winner Sue Cravens Stivers of Columbia is the Southern and Eastern Kentucky Tourism Development Association (SEKTDA) 2003 APEX Award winner. The APEX award was presented to Ms. Stivers at the SEKTDA Annual Caucus which was held December 8, 2003, at The Center For Rural Development. She was selected from 42 county's nominations. APEX represents Achievement, Professionalism, Excellence, and Xtraordinary. 42 different counties representing SEKTDA were asked to nominate individuals or projects that exemplified excellence in the area of tourism promotion and that have made a significant difference in the tourism industry. Sue Stivers was selected from a slate of nominees based on her commitment to tourism development in SEKTDAs region. Sue was chosen to receive the APEX Award for taking hold of the Companys Coming concept and working diligently to promote tourism in the region. Sue is not only a leader in tourism, but also assists with the Rogers Scholars teaching etiquette, a Trustee at Lindsey Wilson College, on the board of Youth Development Facility, a member of the Westlake Cumberland Hospital Auxiliary, works with the Relay for Life and was inducted into the University of Kentucky College of Human Environmental Sciences Hall of Fame. Sheila Kuczko, Executive Director of SEKTDA, said, SEKTDA is so fortunate to have someone of Sue Stivers caliber working with us. Sue has caught the vision of Companys Coming and worked long and hard to make it happen for her corridor. Kuczko further stated, Sues knowledge and leadership have assisted SEKTDA in uniting the communities.
