Noel W. ''Gabby'' Hayes, 85 Services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Gradyville resident Noel W. "Gabby" Hayes, age 85, who passed away Monday at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville after a short illness. Visitation begins Wednesday after 4 p.m. Mr. Hayes, the son of Zack and Henrietta England Hayes of Adair County, was a long-time employee of Chappell's Dairy and was co-owner of B & H Pool and Lunch in Columbia until retiring in 1981. He was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church and a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army in both the African and European Theaters for almost four years and was a past member of the local VFW. Survivors include the following:
Bro. Gerald Reliford will officiate at the Thursday afternoon service and burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors by local VFW Post 6097. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
