Mary A. Cole, 98, retired teacher Mary A. Cole, 96, a retired teacher and a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, Columbia, KY, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2004, at 2:17 p.m., at Summit Manor after several weeks illness. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 8, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Terry White and Bro. Stephen Neel officiating. She was the daughter of the late Charlie T. and Nora Todd Browning of Adair County, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lewis Cole, in 1974. She is survived by the following:
Mrs. Cole taught school in the Adair County school system for 28 years. She was a longtime, faithful member of the Columbia Christian Church and a member of the Adair County Retired Teachers Association. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery. The family requests visitation after 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Columbia Christian Church Building Fun d or Van Fund or to Gideon's International.
