Orby Burton, 77, World War II veteran, noted horseman Orby Burton, 77, a veteran of World War II, noted horseman, and a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, Columbia, formerly of Snake Creek Road, Columbia, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2004, at Summit Manor. The funeral service will be Saturday,m January 3, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ralph Foster officiating. Mr. Burton as a retired farmer, a US Army World War II veteran, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was involved with race horses for many years with the local fair circuits and with quarter horse racing in Illinois and Western Kentucky. He was the son of the late James Bramlet and Beth Sinclair Burton of Adair County, KY. Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his wife, Revone Burton, who died February 20, 1999, and by one son, Dexter M. Burton, who died on July 8, 1972. Also preceding him in death was Reba Burton, in 1945. He is survived by the following:
