Burchell 'Bird' Couch, 80, Adair County, KY

Burchell "Bird" Couch of Columbia was born on February 12, 1940 in Harlan to the late Dave and Leona (Turner) Couch. He departed this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in Glasgow at the T.J. Samson Hospital after an extended illness.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Couch will be conducted at the Hadley Community Church in Columbia at a later date. Bro. Elbert Hadley will be officiating.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Church of Christ faith. Mr. Couch was a former logger and factory worker, and a lifetime farmer. He enjoyed working with his hands; hunting, fishing, and most things done outdoors are what he took pleasure in. He was a family man; his character and morals were a positive influence on his family, his friends, and his community.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

His wife: Sybil (Goodin) Couch,

Two children: Darlene Bunch and husband Doyle of Columbia, and Mary Couch and fiancee Nick Gibson of Somerset,

Five sisters: Sophia Walker of South Carolina, Sue Phelps of Corbin, Mae Hamblin and husband Robert of Corbin, Louise Mosley of London, and Cristeen Mayberry of Cookeville, TN,

Four grandchildren,

Seven great-grandchildren,

And a host of other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Burchell "Bub" Couch, Jr; and six siblings, Ralph Couch, Bige Couch, Bethel Couch, Sidney Couch, Mary Belle Couch, and Thelma Hart.
