Adair Arts Council presents first Holiday Tour

The Adair County Arts Council is proud to present its first Holiday Studio Tour at locations around the county on Saturday, December 13th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to visit any or all of the studios (listed in the "Read More" section below) for holiday fun, gift ideas and refreshments!

Works by Adair County artists will be showcased at each of these studios:

---Highland Raku Studio and Gallery in Sparksville displays and sells regional juried art work. Included in the gallery are Photography, Painting, Quilts and Textile Design, Hand Blown Glass, Jewelry, Pottery, Soaps and lots of soy candles. Guest artists for the Open House include: Anne St.Claire "Antigone", John England demonstrating "glass blowing", and Donnie Perry and Jeff Scott "Raku Firing".

---"Antigone" is an Adair county painter whose works can be viewed at Arnold's Upstairs Gallery. Originally from England, her works include mixed media, fiber,metal, watercolors and oils. The artist divides her time between her studio and raising sheep for fiber which is then woven into heirloom blankets. Many of Antigone's sheep are featured in her paintings.

---" The heart's Image" Pottery Gallery is located in Gradyville. Artist David Waltz says, "I am pleased to be back in Kentucky and inAdair Countyafter teaching art in Maryland for 29 years. I also taught in Kentucky for three years early in my career. My pottery is called "The heart's Image". I create both functional and decorative stoneware pottery plus a wide variety of sculptures.

--- Arnold's Upstairs Gallery on the public square in the purple building welcomes you to participate in our Gallery hop. Margaret Arnold says she is happy to have the privilege of bringing to you the works of art by outstanding Local and Regional Kentucky Artists and extending theopportunity to own one-of-a-kind original artwork for your home, office or a special gift.

---The Art Department of Adair County High School will be open to showcase art work by students under the direction of Debra Wimmer. You are invited to stop in during the December 13th tour to meet the student artists and see their works in ceramics, 2-D works, and Sculpture, many of which will be on sale for the event. Refreshments will be served.

---After the holidays, be sure to schedule a visit to The Lucretia C. Begley Gallery located in the Slider Humanities Building on Lindsey Wilson College campus which provides the area with a variety of quality exhibits throughout the college year. Starting January 15, 2004, Midevil Alchemy wood engravings will be on display and the public is invited.
