"Do you want to take photography classes from an internationally known photographer, Dave LaBelle?"

LaBelle is an internationally known photographer, teacher, author and speaker, and is teaching two eight-week photojournalism classes at Campbellsville University beginning Monday March 9th.

The courses focus on photography and faith as well as how photography can help heal the soul.

They are open to everyone. Those taking the courses, however, should have a working knowledge of a digital single lens reflex camera.

Faith and photojournalism meets at 8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, until 9:40 a.m. This is a photojournalism class designed to teach photography and storytelling on a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ. The course will not teach doctrine, but seek to apply Biblical principles, especially from the New Testament. The primary goal is to create or strengthen a compassionate journalistic conscience which will serve students throughout their careers.

Assignments are designed to build or reinforce a student's technical, aesthetic and content-gathering skills, while equipping them with an ethical thought process which will better equip them to face the myriad of challenging situations they will encounter.

Photo therapy meets Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. This experiential class is designed to teach students how to use photography and storytelling as compassionate tools for healing and connection. Service-based, our mission will be to use photography to educate and connect people of different ages and backgrounds, while reminding each of us how we need each other.

LaBelle will have an exhibit of his photography Monday-Friday, March 9th -13th until 5 p.m. Friday in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive.

You can meet the photographer at the reception on Wednesday, March 11th from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. eastern time in the gallery.

Everyone is invited.
