COVID-19 local communications update from ACJE Cowan By Gale B. Cowan, Adair County Judge Executive I have been receiving some calls regarding the COVID-19 virus. Myself, along with other state and local personnel were on a webinar today with Governor Beshear, Michael Dossett with KYEM, and Dr. Steven Stack, Commissioner of KY Dept. of Public Health today. Be aware that the information will change daily (sometimes hourly). At the time of the webinar Tuesday, March 10, 2020, we had 6 confirmed cases in the state of Kentucky. We have no cases reported in our area. The state is fully committed to working with communities and local leaders. We ask that you use good general hygiene practices as washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, cough/sneeze into your elbow, and stay home if you are sick. To clean hard surfaces, you can use 1 part bleach to 100 parts water to get the same results as the disinfecting wipes (that are becoming so hard to find). If you have other questions, the Dept. of Public Health has a hotline set up for people to call. That number is 800-722-5725 or you may visit www.kycovid19.ky.gov for further information such as frequently asked questions, symptoms, etc. Local officials, emergency personnel, health board, and others will have another informational meeting later this week. We will do our best to keep everyone up to date locally if anything changes in our immediate area. This story was posted on 2020-03-11 06:08:13
