Congratulations to Olivia Mantooth and Lydia St. Andrew for being selected as Grand Champions is the Adair County 4-H Written Communications contest. Their poems have been entered in the State 4-H Written Communications Contest.

Also, congratulations to Cherrish Blythe, Timothy Brock and Jasper Kemp who received a Blue Ribbon rating for their entries in the Written Communications contest.

Below are all five of their poems that were entered in the contest:

"Railroad"
My railroad has been with me for years
So long, there is never an ending
So long, he has my puddle of tears
Best friend trust me, I'll be coming
By Olivia Mantooth, Adair County
Junior Poetry Champion Blue Ribbon

"Summer Time"
The sun is out,
All nice and warm,
Like a hot spout,
Oh, it's summer time!

Kids playing outside,
Running at the park,
Slipping down the slide,
Oh, it's summer time!

Mamas sitting on the ground,
Talking with their friends,
Watching their kids running around,
Oh, it's summer time!
By Lydia St. Andrew, Adair County
Junior Poetry Champion Blue Ribbon

"The Outside Beauty"
The trees were singing
To me in the wind
And outside the rocks were as happy as can be
The railroad was like a stone staring at me
By Timothy Brock, Adair County
Junior Poetry Blue Ribbon

"The Lonely Tracks"
The railroad track
Will always be straight
Like a ruler with a silent pack
It will never be rode on again
It is very cold at night when
The track is very lonely
It has a friend during the day
The sun who shines on him through its ray
Then he is not the only
By Jasper Kemp, Adair County
Junior Poetry Blue Ribbon

"The Train Track"
The train moves loud
The wind makes a sound
The train rattles
Sometimes the train tattles
As the train goes
The ground feels like an earthquake grows
By Cherrish Blythe, Adair County
Junior Poetry Blue Ribbon
