Jessie Marie Sullivan, 87, longtime newspaper columnist

Jessie Marie Sullivan, 87, formerly of the Cundiff Community, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at the Metzmeier Nursing Home in Campbellsville, KY, after a several months illness.

The funeral service will be Friday, November 7, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY, with Rev. Ronnie Janes officiating.


She was the daughter of the late Loren and Annie Cundiff Hadley of Adair County, KY.

Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the Rowe's Chapel Methodist Church at Cundiff, KY.

She was retired from OshKosh in Columbia and was a longtime correspondent for the Columbia Statesman and later the Adair Progress, writing the weekly Melson Ridge newsletter.

She was an avid traveler and visited most of the 50 United States and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sullivan, on September 3, 1977.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sons, Randall Sullivan, Summersville, KY; and Thurston Sullivan, Louisville, KY
  • One daughter, Adrian Doris Hadley, Columbia, KY
  • One sister, Mary Hadley, Columbia, KY
  • And seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, KY.

The family requests visitation after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2003, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.
