CU sees new director of financial aid After 20 years of service at Campbellsville University, Chris Mapes, director of financial aid, will be retiring on March 31, 2020 and her successor will be Robyn Sollberger, assistant director of financial aid at CU, named the new director of financial aid. Emberton, staff writer/photographer, Office of University Communication CAMPBELSLVILLE, Ky. -- Robyn Sollberger, assistant director of financial aid at Campbellsville University, will be named the new director of financial aid on April 1, following the retirement of Chris Mapes, director of financial aid. "Robyn, like Chris, cares about the students and will do a fantastic job as director," Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, said. "We are looking forward to her leadership." She is a member of the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administration (KASFAA), the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administration (SASFAA) and the National Administration of Student Financial Aid Administration (NASFAA). As a member of KASFAA, Sollberger is serving as the private school sector representative from 2018 to 2021. She has been the newsletter editor since 2017 and has been a budget and finance committee member since 2017. Sollberger has been in financial aid at Campbellsville University for eight years. She is the holder of 11 National Association of Student Financial Aid Administration credentials in: administrative capability, application process, cost of attendance, need analysis, packaging and notification of awards, professional judgement, return of Title IV finds, satisfactory academic progress, student eligibility, TEACH grants and verification. "Robyn has been a great addition to the financial aid staff and will continue to help students in her new role as director," Tim Judd, vice president for finance (CFO), said. "She has the leadership qualities, attention to details, and passion for serving students that we need in the director role." She has served as the treasurer of the Green River Memorial Baptist Church since 2010. Sollberger received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis in 2003 and her Master's of Business Administration in 2007, both from Campbellsville University. She is a graduated of Taylor County High School. Sollberger is married to Jeremy Sollberger. She has four children: Shelby, 23, and a Campbellsville University 2018 alumnae; Coltyn, 9; Braylen, 6; and Brysen, 6. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, said, "As long as I have been president, Chris has been with our university, working with students and helping them to secure the financial resources needed to purse their education. She is a blessing and will be greatly missed by many." "Chris will be greatly missed," Tim Judd, vice president for finance (CFO), said. "She always went above and beyond for the students here and has impacted so many lives in her 20 years of service. I am grateful for the exemplary way she has led the financial aid department serving thousands of students with excellence. She is highly respected in the financial aid profession and has been a tremendous asset to Campbellsville University." A 2007 Campbellsville University alumnae, Mapes has worked in the financial aid profession for 31 years and is a certified financial aid administrator. Mapes is a member of the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA), the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). While an active member of KASFAA for 30 years, Mapes has held the position of both president and treasurer. She received the association's highest honor, the Herb Vescio Distinguished Service Award in 2011, has presented numerous credentialing and best practice sessions at conferences and has chaired numerous committees. As a member of SASFAA, Mapes served as chair of the budget and finance committee, the annual conference committee and the ad hoc committee on conference handbook re-write. She was also a conference presenter. Mapes was a conference presenter and moderator and mentor for the association's mentorship program for NASFAA. She was also a frequent presenter at the College Board's annual PowerFAIDS conference. Mapes is a charter member of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) Advisory Group for student financial aid programs and administration. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Campbellsville University in 2007. Mapes is married to Bob Mapes. She has two daughters, Tammy Combs and Susan Campbell, and four grandchildren: Hannah, Lindsey, Braydon and Avery. Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 11,500 students offering over 100 programs of study including Ph.D., master, baccalaureate, associate, pre-professional and certification programs.
